This is true, but it wasn't road legal at the time the since using road rubber it can't get anywhere near that time because the tyres just kept lighting up.

They managed that time with 1.25 foot wide rear tyres, the rear suspension would off bottomed out over a pubic hair for being so soft and the first gear ratios were over 2:1

 

oh yeah the tyres were slicks and it was set on a drag strip which also had lots of rubber laid down from funny cars.

I've reported your posts on this thread.

European Cars are all about power in the high end, high RPMs, top speed.  American Cars are all about brute force throughout the power curve and getting of the line first, plenty of low end grunt. 

Ford has had its share of problems, thats for sure.  In the past couple of years they've begun to rebuild back to a good company.  The GT is just one of those cars that is a step in the right direction.  As far as it not cornering well how many of those English drivers have driven rear wheel drive powershouses with all that torque.  Torque is what gets a car moveing, HP is basically just top speed.  The GT is made for the racetrack, not urban driveing, heck it'll do the Autobahn or winding roads in the country but get near the city or suburbs and the risk of an accident is enough for me not to take it out on a drive.  Ford now contols Aston Martin, to a point, so expect alot of knowledge out of that.

The real racing champions lately have come from someone down the street in Detriot.  General Motors with the C5R racing cars and the new C6R racing cars.  They continue to be top runners in Le Mans.  Cadillac is making a mark in the SCAA championships and didn't to "bad" in Le Mans for its 2 year return run. 

The main thing that happened to Ford is they stopped trying to compete with Europeans and started molding their cars to Japanesse compitition through the 80's and 90's, big mistake, Europe and the US both know, their is now replacement for displacement and now have found ways to get great fuel economy from the big blocks and small blocks.  Many inline 4's and underpowered 6's were created during that era.  Its only now that they are getting their act together and building cars Americans, and eventually Europeans like.

In racing top speed is only a relative thing.  Its more important to crisply get through the gears and shift less than your competitor.  Have greator acceration out of a turn but still be able to control that rear-end from kicking out.

Why are the US and UK fighting, both make great cars?  Lets go after the Japanesse cars lol  Sure some are good and cheap but the price on parts is redicolous.

Hey I just remembered a car that was shown in a screenshot but isn't on the confirmed car list.  I just can't remember the name of the thing though.  It's powered by a 2005 mustang engine, has the standard supercar carbon-fiber body, and has more of a muscle car than supercar look.  Anyone know what car I'm talking about?  The screenshot that showed it was a menu screen, and the car was in the background (with an orangish hue if I remember correctly).

No, it's not a mustang, or a ford for that matter, at all.  It's just powered by the Ford Mustang engine.  I forget the name of the "company" (it's only made by a few people, like the Ariel Atom).

I scour the threads and see if I can find it.

Found it!  And nope, it's not any of those, it's the MG XPower SV-R.  There was a screen of it, where it's front was shown, really big, in the background of a menu screen.  The car isn't included in the main car list though, and I havent seen any screens or vids of it since that 1 menu pic.  Confused....

Twin Turbo NSX? NSX GTR? The hell? The only NSX GTR is the NSX GT2 that ran LeMans and its not a GTR. And I'm pretty sure there aren't any Honda made Twin Turbo NSXs.

Bob, the Saleen S7 has become the Top American car that can keep up with the best of Europe. The S7 TT at 750Hp, offers an optional 1,000HP upgrade. The car has so much downforce, its rumored it can be driven upside down. It's faster than the Lamborghinis, takes out the Zonda C12s in handling, and even take on the Enzo and Carrera GT, 2 top cars in Europe. The SLR is a grand tourer car, so its in a whole 'nother class. Now, this is the Saleen, not the GT.

Ford, quit praising the GT as if it's god. It has problems, admit it. It's hardly a match against the Enzo or Carrera GT.

The Carrera GT absolutely murders the GT around the track with the Enzo. It's top speed is 205Mph. Ford ANNOUNCED it a long ass time ago. And it's quite sad really. The Corvette obliterates the GT with 50 less hp, and the Viper SRT-10 Coupe even managed to beat it. The GT doesn't stand a chance against the Enzo if it only manages to just be competition for the F430. I'll hate to see what the F430 Challenge does. The new 997 GT3 is also claimed to produce better performance stats than the GT.

IF you want top American cars, the Corvette Z06 and Saleen S7 TT will take on what Europe has to offer.

And YES, at this point, Europe is the Top Continent as of Supercars. Germany, Italy and where the Bugatti is from (France is it?) are top countries right now in the Supercar world. And like Bob said, don't even bring in TVR...TVRs are just a company of insanely high performance vehicles. The GT is hardly a match for the Sagaris.

 

@Huzz, please tell Bizzare they screwed the Diablo GT up. I've heard the game labels it as an AWD. This is not true. The Diablo is a RWD car.

True, but they could have tried to put the NSX-R in. It can battle the 360 CS pretty well in real life and a few cars in PGR3.Shame to hear the NSX GT2 isn't too good though in the game. It can easily take some of those cars on in real life.

But no, I'm not McLaren. I don't have Live!, but I get that alot.
